NODL Evaluation Report
"The story is beautifully written but quite dull. Only one brief passage can be cited as objectionable and this- because the heroine is ashamed and disgusted and portrays an abnormal reaction to sex- that is, that sex in the normal way is disgusting. For the most part it is too subtle to be termed objectionable- but not too wholesome a subject either."
[Note: reviewer gave rating of "Borderline" for book, different from NODL's rating]
"Portrays homosexuality in a favorable manner & doesn't treat it as such. pp. 110-128."

BY THE AUTHOR OF WE TOO ARE DRIFTING
This is the startling and compelling story of a beautiful girl who spurned the opportunity for marriage and security offered by two different men. Only when she made the acquaintance of the lovely and enigmatic Toni did she at last discover her own true nature and the strange path down which she was drifting.
“Dignified handling of a delicate subject…” – Springfield Republican
“Not a story for sensation-mongers, nor is it for those who prefer morals packaged up in simple bundles of black and white” – New York Herald Tribune
Cover Art Description
Two women appear facing the reader, to the right of the image. One, a blonde with long, curly hair wearing a light-blue negligee, is sitting on a bed, legs folded under her body as she gazes at the reader with half-shut eyes and mouth slightly open. Her right hand plays with a lock of her hair over her chest, the weight of her body on her stretched left arm. The left strap of her negligee hangs over her elbow. The other woman, a brunette with short hair, stands behind her, to the right of the image and facing the reader at a three-quarter angle towards the left. She is dressed with a blue cardigan and what seem to be black pants. Her head is upright, and her gaze is directed downward toward the blonde as she rests her right hand on the blonde's right shoulder. Her left fingers touch the blonde's left shoulder. On the wall behind them, the lights and shadows of window panes are cast, as well as their own shadows, and the light reflected seems like that of morning sunshine.
