Strange breed

Hired girl

Hire hand front cover. A redhead woman sits on a wooden chair in the ground-level rain porch of a wooden structure. Women's Barracks by Tereska Torrės is credited as the first of the mid-century pulp paperbacks to feature a lesbian-themed cover and contain passages describing physical intimacy between two women.
